Organon Pharmaceutical Facility

In 2001 AGEC was appointed by Project Management Limited (PMG) as specialist geotechnical advisor for the Organon Pharmaceutical Facility. AGEC’s role was to provide specific design advice on the following:

  • Raising of existing ground level by up to 1.7m to accommodate the proposed development.
  • Design of the ground investigation to provide further data on the near surface soft soils.
  • Vibration monitoring as 2.5mm/sec threshold was required due to sensitive adjacent structures.
  • Construction programme in order to accommodate the continuous use of access areas and hard standing areas.
  • Ground investigation findings which indicated a varying thickness of soft to firm Alluvial Deposits overlying Boulder Clay and Limestone.
  • Use of Vibro Concrete Columns (VCC) as a foundation solution for the floors and for the lighter column loads.
  • The use of augured piles for the heavier column loads.
  • Pavement options including the use of geotextiles or the car parking and hardstanding area.
