In 2001 AGEC was appointed by Project Management Limited (PMG) as specialist geotechnical advisor for the Organon Pharmaceutical Facility. AGEC’s role was to provide specific design advice on the following:
- Raising of existing ground level by up to 1.7m to accommodate the proposed development.
- Design of the ground investigation to provide further data on the near surface soft soils.
- Vibration monitoring as 2.5mm/sec threshold was required due to sensitive adjacent structures.
- Construction programme in order to accommodate the continuous use of access areas and hard standing areas.
- Ground investigation findings which indicated a varying thickness of soft to firm Alluvial Deposits overlying Boulder Clay and Limestone.
- Use of Vibro Concrete Columns (VCC) as a foundation solution for the floors and for the lighter column loads.
- The use of augured piles for the heavier column loads.
- Pavement options including the use of geotextiles or the car parking and hardstanding area.
