Leanamore is a 9 turbine wind farm southwest of Tarbert in County Kerry. It will have an installed capacity of 17.5MW and will be operational for the next 25 years.
For Leanamore wind farm, initial reviews carried out indicated that piled foundations would likely be required for the turbine bases. However through the use of deeper foundations, careful management of groundwater and regular site inspections by experienced geotechnical staff, AGEC successfully managed the design of an alternative solution and eliminated the need for piling. This example of value engineering lead to significant savings.
AGEC were engaged by Roadbridge as geotechnical designers for the project. AGEC’s role included the geotechnical design of 9 turbine base foundations, access tracks, crane hardstands, substation and construction compound platforms, site supervision during the works and construction support.
