Galway Wind Park will comprise a total of 58 wind turbines. When consented and constructed, the 169MW Galway Wind Park will be the largest onshore wind project in Ireland.
Galway Wind Park will produce enough green energy to power around 84,000 homes, which is equivalent to almost 90% of the homes in County Galway.
AGEC were appointed geotechnical designers to Main Contractor – Roadbridge.
Our role included the design of 58 turbine base foundations, design and construction supervision of peat depository embankments and blasting assessment for existing peat slopes wherein it was required to specify limits on blasting such that the in situ peat sloes would not be destabilised by seismic effect.
In all aspects of our role we brought value engineering and lateral thinking to de-risk a complex project.
