The railway line from Clonsilla to the M3 Interchange at Pace was proposed as a twin track railway line linking into Dublin city centre at the new proposed Docklands Station. Three new stations were required along the route at Dunboyne and a major Park and Ride facility at Pace.
As part of the re-opening of the line, the existing line sub-grade and earthworks were assessed and up-graded as required, existing over bridges were repaired or new over bridges constructed along with the construction of footbridges at each of the stations and several culverts.
AGEC was commissioned to provide geotechnical interpretation and design for the construction works for the railway scheme.
Our brief included walkover and site visits, the supervision of geotechnical investigations and the provision of comprehensive advice on the following; the topography and geology along the route, the ground investigation work carried out as part of the geotechnical works, the principles adopted in interpreting and deriving geotechnical design parameters including the codes and guidelines used, the earthworks design which was divided into 10 earthworks elements and for each element the interpretation and design was given, the foundation design parameters for the proposed structures, the geotechnical design for the proposed stations and link side roads.
